Wednesday 23rd June - Kuta

Had fruit salad (pineapple and papaya) and 2 pcs toast for brekky, then walked with 4 x supermarket shopping bags full of empty DVD cases down to Roni's shop (15 min walk).

Then went to the Aquarius. The guy who I had been dealing with everyday trying to get a room wasn't there, but I found out that he hadn't even booked a room for me. After a bit of a discussion with the other guy, they finally worked out a way that I could move in today. Yay. Unfortunately my room is up 4 flights of stairs! I dragged my bags over from the other hotel, over broken roads, gravel, and swerving heavy traffic, then up those damn stairs. Two guys had to carry my big bag up, and they had worked up a sweat by the time we reached the top. The power had gone out in the lower end of Legian St all day, so there was no fan to keep us cool, so I had a cold shower, didn't help much though.

I hung out in my room for a while, then went on a mission to find a larger DVD holder so I can get rid of ALL my cases cos no way am I dragging those 3 huge bags around the airport.

Some local guys on the street (who hang out in front of Bounty, next to Paddys), invited me to Paddys tonight. Will see how I feel.

Junior SMS'd me to meet him & Roni, so I gathered 4 more plastic bags full of empty DVD cases to dump on him, and headed to Flora / Putra DVD.

Damn, I'm thinking Junior is going to end up just like those guys in Ubud! He told me how the other day, I didn't respect him, so he deleted my name out of his phone! What the... ?? I've always been nice to him, so I suspect he is being a typical jealous Balinese, and that he was jealous of me chatting to Roni? I dunno. Anyway, he works until 2am, so I will meet up with him tomorrow before he starts work (6) to maybe watch a movie, but I will have to be on my guard I think. I'm so not used to people being jealous of each other.. not over me anyway!

On the way back to the hotel, I ran into Dime, a shop holder that I've been friendly with (Just walking past), over the past month. I remember him from the reggae club the night that Nick & I went (I remember him on the dance floor with his friend - SITTING on the dance floor, completely out of it). Anyway, I sat and chatted with him for a while and he said he was going to Tubes after he finishes work to watch a movie, then to Apache, so I said I would meet him at Tubes @ 10.

Went back to the hotel, showered to cool down, turned up at Tubes @ 10:30, but couldn't spot him anywhere, but it turns out the movie doesn't start til 11.

Felt myself wishing Nick was there, as that's where we used to meet up. Him, always sprawled out over 3 chairs with no shirt on, with a pile of Rupiah sitting on the table for his drinks/food, and a Bali Cider (or 2). I sent him an SMS telling him that I was at Tubes and wished he was there, he replied back telling me to Enjoy Myself.

I had a Bali Cider, looking for Dime, no luck. Since the movie wasn't going to start til 11, I decided to try and once again find that cheap DVD shop while I waited. As I walked out, a tap on my shoulder. Turns out Dime was in Tubes, just didn't see him and vice versa as we were behind a few poles. We went for a walk, then went back to Tubes to watch Tomb Raider 2.

I ordered a baked potato, wasn't that good, but at least it was tender.

After the movie, we went to Apache Reggae Bar. I liked it, but my back (Ovaries) were in absolute agony, and I couldn't concentrate on anything `cept the pain, so after about 30 mins, I decided I couldn't take it anymore and wanted to go back to the hotel.

Dime's friends had left already, so he was going home too. I decided to "do a lap" of Paddy's, but they wouldn't let Dime in. I thought he was right behind me, so I continued to do the lap - ooooops :(
I ran into the guy from the street, and he tried to "cure" my back but to no avail. I left, and Dime was out the front waiting for me - he walked me back to my hotel and told me how security stopped him from going in - it costs 50,000 for locals to enter Paddys. Jeez.

It's 2am, I'm going to sleep.
