14th June - Monday
Had breakfast with Fred again. With brekky being free, its tempting to always have the best, but after today, banana pancake, porridge, scrambled egg, and orange juice!! I think I'll be healthy from now on and just have fruit.
Walked to Supernova, bought a cd/mp3/vcd player for only 600,000 R, which is half what I was going to pay in the Martahari.
Bought an enormous suitcase for about $60 Australian in the Martahari. Bargain. Took a cab back to the hotel.
Packed my new suitcase full of my 150 or so DVDs :)
It almost completed filled it, maybe I won't worry about bringing clothes back with me to Australia, hehehe.
Went for another walk up the other end of Legian St, to another Martahari, bought 3 x Indonesian Language books, a map of Ubud, and some bargain Titanium Batteries.
Bought some Joop, male & female, for 50,000, from an arrogant pushy jerk.
Bought some speakers so I can listen to CDs in my hotel room.
Had lunch @ some gallery place near Paddys. Wow. It looks like "white tablecloth" dining, in an outdoor environment, surrounding a beautiful blue pool. The prices are reasonable (from 18,000 to 40,000), although you have to watch the extras that they add without asking, such as rice with a non-rice dish, will add more to your bill, and they assume you want rice so the question is not asked. I had a dish called Apar Apar (I think), which is steamed water spinach and bean sprouts with freshly grated coconut & lime and steamed rice. I'll definitely be back in the future. Best experienced with a group though.
I've spent the rest of the day in the hotel with my cd player and language books.
